Congratulations to Grade 12 members of the SAHS "Poetry in Action" group who received an HONORABLE MENTION in the "Share Your Gifts" contest!!
Their spoken word poem was performed during our Open House evening, at a WECDSB Board Meeting and at our Christmas Mass.
The "Share Your Gifts" art and media contest was open to JK-12 Catholic students and was sponsored all across Canada. CCSTA received almost 60 entries by over 300 participating students! What a great accomplishment!
We are so proud of them!
Yesterday your Lady Saints hockey team won the weccssa hockey title for the second year in a row! Outstanding team effort resulted in a 4 to 0 win over Villanova. The shutout was turned in by Vanessa "the wall" Despinic, and goal scores were Taylor "the tank" Reaume, Danieka "the dangler" Dupuis and with 2 goals on the night it was Kylene "the killer" Dupuis. Congrats to all the girls and a special thanks to Mrs Sheppherd for all her work and organization. SWOSSA is next week, more to come!
Unfortunately the boys came up short again against Villanova. Down one in the third we tied it up, however Villanova scored with three minutes left and hung on for the win. A task too difficult for the boys to overcome with a short bench. The boys played with heart and were so close.
Thanks to Jake Anger, Mike Elias, and Tim Charlton for their commitment and dedication and good luck in your future.
Attention all jr hockey players - tryouts will start next Tuesday and Wednesday.
More details to follow listen to announcement.
Curling highlights! We have curling highlights!
Last night our girls curling team took on the number one seeded Massey Mustangs. St. Anne's skip Natalie Begin came out with a strong steal of two in the first but suffered an injury in the 2nd end which allowed Mustangs skip Tiffany Scurr to make a strong comeback to lead the team to a 10-2 victory over the Saints. Both teams advance to SWOSSAA in Sarnia on Monday. Bravo and congrats to Nathalie Begin, Emma Caldwell-Dumouchelle, Sarah Campagna, Stephanie Heikkila, and Mackenzie Cochois!
The St. Anne's United Nations team is holding a pizza fundraiser tomorrow during both lunches. Bring your toonies and enjoy some great Pizza House pizza. See you tomorrow at lunch!
Senior girl's tryouts continue Monday and Wednesday next week at 4 pm. If you are interested in trying out please sign the sheet on the bulletin board outside the phys. ed. office. Could Amanda Milanis and Savannah Guilbeault please see Mrs. Stanski.
There will be an information session today in the cafeteria during Period 4 for all students writing the Ontario Secondary School Literacy test. If you are not in grade 10 but think you should be writing this year, please check with your period 4 teacher to see if your name is on the writers list, and if it is, come to our information session. If you think you should write and your name is not on the list, please see Mrs. Jefford in Rm 265 during Period 3 today or as soon as possible.
