Sr. Boy's Soccer
Yesterday, your Saints took part in the Quad "A" championship vs. the Holy Name Knights.  In  the 1st 80 minutes the score was 0 – 0.  In overtime your Saints, started on their heels, allowing 3 goals in 20 minutes, losing the championship 3 – 0.  Credit goes to our goalie Marcus Vial who had a tremendous match for the Saints.  Next your Saints will continue to train and prepare for the OFSAA Championships June 5, 6, 7.  A very good season so far Saints.

Last night at McHugh soccer complex our lady saints soccer team got their revenge from last year's loss. Carly Alfano launched a rocket of a shot from outside the box in the sixth minute of play. This sent an early message that it was going to be a long day for the Holy Names Knights.  The girls continued to put the pressure on, hitting a crossbar and missing out on some glorious opportunities.  We went into the half with a 1-0 lead but controlled the game. Marlee Hewitt came off the bench in the second half with fresh legs and was able to finish off a beautiful sequence of passes set up by Hannah Drkulec.  With their backs against the wall the knights pushed up their key player in hopes of developing some offense but it backfired as Hannah Drkulec  single handedly dribbled through the defense and blasted a shot past the keeper. It only got worse for the girls from Holy Names when Hannah recorded her second goal of the game.  It was a great team effort with many of the girls getting the opportunity to play in a WECSSAA final.  Congrats to Erika Greco for keeping a clean sheet in net and to our amazing defense of Nora Broderick, Brittany Gill, Briana Hogan and Kylene Dupuis for their stellar play all game.  A new streak has begun.  Your coaches are extremely proud of you.

Next action for the girls is next Thursday where they hope to recapture the SWOSSAA championship.

The Track and Field team competed at the highly competitive SWOSSA meet over the past two days.  The athletes came together as a team and came through with impressive results sending 24 athletes to OFSAA regionals next week.  Although there were many notable performances and personal bests, the following athletes finished in the top three in their event:  Bronze medalists are Julian Pieniaziek and Richard Lupas in Junior and senior boys pole vault, Brittany Gill in the 800m and the 4 x 100m team of Kyla Sovran, Taylor Reaume, Hannah Drkulec and Hunter Gouin.  Silver medallists are Jesse Devoglaere, Jordan Lupas and Brad Gyemi in the Midget, Junior and senior boys pole vault, Kyla Sovran in the 100m and Anna Ulicny with a gutsy finish in the 1500m.  SWOSSA champions are:  Madison Bardoel and Marina Valente in midget and junior girls pole vault, Jesse Devoglaere in midget boys high jump and Hannah Drkulec in junior girls 400m.  Finally, Madison Bardoel was not only the SWOSSA champion in pole vault but the new SWOSSA record holder.  With an incredible performance she broke the SWOSSA record TWICE during competition sending the old record of 2m 15cm down with her 2m 40cm vault.  Congrats to all athletes on their fantastic performances.

Our girls slo pitch team played 2 games yesterday.~ They won against Massey 16-8 and lost against Sandwich 17-8.~ Way to go...Hannah Mclounie and Amy Maitre on your home run hits!!
