Thursday April 2 is World Autism Awareness Day.

The United Nations General Assembly unanimously declared April 2 as World Autism Awareness Day to highlight the need to help improve the quality of life of children and adults, who are affected by autism, so they can lead full and meaningful lives.

Light It Up Blue is a unique global initiative that kicks-off Autism Awareness Month and helps raise awareness about autism. In honor of this historic day, many iconic landmarks, hotels, sporting venues, concert halls, museums, bridges and retail stores are among the thousands of buildings lit blue to raise autism awareness.

On Thursday, at St. Anne, we will "Light it up/Dress it up Blue".
This week, in the school store, we have light-up blue bracelets for sale for $2.00.  All proceeds will benefit Autism Ontario.  Stop by the store during lunch to purchase a bracelet that can be worn on Thursday.

On Thursday during both lunches, students from Ms. Bank's cosmetology class, some students from our life skills department and some Best Buddies will be "painting it up blue" and doing blue manicures.
As well, on Thursday we will have a non-uniform day.  Staff and students are asked to dress in blue, including creative blue accents to celebrate World Autism Awareness Day.  We are asking for a $2.00 donation – proceeds will support Autism Ontario and initiatives for our life skills department.

Today is Hoop It Up! All classes who have signed up for the Hoop It Up Best Buddies assembly during period 4 are asked to wait for an announcement before coming down to the gym.
