Hey Saints! If you aren't already aware, October is child abuse prevention month. Every year in October, communities in Ontario unite to stand up against child abuse. There are different types of abuse that need to be stopped in our world. Here's a few facts that should get you thinking about why you should join the cause for child abuse prevention! ~Did you know that a study in Ontario found that 31 percent of males and 21 percent of females experienced physical abuse during their childhood? Also, neglect was the most commonly reported form of child abuse in Canada. ~In a recent study conducted by Toronto street youth, one-third of these youth had experienced severe physical or sexual abuse. Saints you too can take part in this important cause! Homeroom teachers distributed purple ribbons to all period 1 students in order to allow you to show your support and spread awareness. Let's "Go Purple" and make a difference. ~Child abuse is everyone's business!
