Hey best buddies!
There is an important Best Buddies meeting on Wednesday after school in room 204. Members are reminded to bring in their items for Best buddies month. If you cannot attend you must see a teacher advisor to secure your place on the team for the upcoming semester.

Badminton- A reminder that juniors will practice at 4:15 tonight (Tuesday) and the seniors will practice at 2:15 on Thursday not 4:15 like was originally mentioned. That's juniors tonight at 4:15 and seniors on Thursday at 2:15!!!

Attention grade 10 and 11 students hoping to take leadership next year please pick up an application form outside the phy'ed office or see Mr. Ficon.

Attention grade 10 and 11 students next spring we are hoping to offer an outdoor education course.  If you are interested about being active outside the traditional classroom please see Mr. Ficon for more information.

Attention Sr. and Jr football players this is a reminder that the weight room is open every night till 4.

This week the athletes af the week are Olivia Kireta from the girls hockey team and the entire Senior Boys basketball team for their Wecssaa championship.

Olivia Kireta scored a hat trick in a semi final game vs Sandwich last week and the Boys basketball team captured the Wecssaa Championship in a stellar game.

Howard McCurdy – Black History Month

Howard Douglas McCurdy is a retired Canadian politician and university professor.

Born December 10, 1932, in London, Ontario, McCurdy studied at the University of Western Ontario where he received a Bachelor of Arts and later at Assumption University where he received a Bachelor of Science. He was awarded a Master of Science and a Ph.D. in microbiology and chemistry from Michigan State University. McCurdy has also served for a time as Michigan State University's president of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).

From 1979 to 1984, McCurdy served the city of Windsor as an alderman and later joined the New Democratic Party, eventually becoming the party's first African-Canadian Member of Parliament. He served as the MP for the riding of Windsor—Walkerville from the 1984 election until riding redistribution in 1988. In the 1988 election he was reelected in the new riding of Windsor—Lake St. Clair, where he served until his defeat in the 1993 federal election. He was also a candidate for the party leadership in the 1989 leadership convention which selected Audrey McLaughlin.
In 2012, McCurdy was made a member of the Order of Ontario and was designated a Member of the~Order of Canada

Back by popular demand.......it's the Silicon Valley Trip of 2017!   Sign up sheets is posted outside room 161 (Ms. Gayowsky's room).  Come experience technology like no other.  Enjoy innovation and hands on workshops with Intel, and the wizards at Google and more.  Students will have the opportunity to visit some of the giants in technology like Microsoft, Standford University, Twitter, Facebook and more!

Students in  grade 9-12, taking technology courses will be given preference seating for this trip.

Yesterday your Lady Saint hockey team played one of thier best team games of the year.  From the opening faceoff the girls out worked ,chanced, and scored the team from Villanova.  Jessica Spratt opened the scoring followed by Emily Dulong, Ellen Donaldson, and a beauty by Sarah Schincariol. The shutout was turned in by Vanessa Despinic.
The girls are one win away from the wecssa titile.
