Wednesday Announcements

MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS

WEDESDAY, FEBRUARY 19

On Friday, February 28th there will be a period one buy-out for classes interested in attending our 2014 Sears Ontario Drama Festival performance entitled "A Tale of Every Other Person."  Tickets will be $2/person and the entire class must attend.  This play is written by our very own Miranda Furlan and directed by Ashley Spina.  It tells the story of Allie White (played by Cameron McMullin) and follows her through the struggles of teenage life.  We encourage your home room classes to support the arts.

A huge heartfelt thank you from Mrs. Maurovic goes out to all the students and staff that came down to the gym to donate blood as well as to participate in the Swab event on Friday; potentially saving the lives of so many, WAY TO GO SAINTS!

Hosting this Clinic could not have been possible without the help of so many individuals. First, and foremost I would like to thank Ms. LoFaso, Mr. Sleiman, Mrs. Chiandussi and Mrs. Facchinato for all their support! In addition, I would like to thank all the homeroom teachers for encouraging students to give blood and Mr. L. Loebach and the Phys Ed department for allowing us to use the gym. To Mrs. Quigley, Mrs. Russo, Mrs. Thompson and Mrs. Carroll in the main office for all your help organizing this event.  To Mrs. Senjanin and her Period 1 class for visiting homerooms to solicit volunteers.  To Mr. B. Loebach and his basketball club for taking the time after their game to set up the gym and to Mrs. Fuerth's gym class for helping us tear down the gym. And last but not least, to all the volunteers, Isabelle, Camryn, Kennedy, Mike, Lauren, Rachel and Chantal, and who helped run the events!

I look forward to continued support for such a worthwhile event from the St. Anne family. Absolutely amazing work Saints!

Also running next year is a Grade 12 course, NDW4M, called Issues of Indigenous Peoples in a Global Context. This course is a GREAT choice for students interested in social justice, law, international relations, world issues, conflict studies, history and sociology.

If you are interested in learning more, please see Ms.Cavallin in room 265 or room 252.

Thank you to all students who signed up for the Poetry in Voice Recitation Contest.  We will meet today in room 267 during your lunch.
Please bring your poem choices.

Any students wishing to still compete are welcome.

The Lady Saints sent the Villanova Wildcats packing on Friday night by taking the WECSSAA Senior Girls AAA/AAAA Volleyball title right here in our gym.
The girls played 2 sets to start the game off well and then fell 2 sets to go into the final set tied.
The girls were determined not to lose this set and came out swinging.
Kennedy Ramsden kept the serves coming while Kaila Crough dropped kill after kill onto the court. Kayley Lenders Rachel Loebach and Marissa McNaughton played great defense in the back row while Maddie Mooney and Brittney Donahue played big at the net. When Villanova finally scored the lady Saints were up 9-0 and the game was all but over.
Maddie Tracey played her usual solid game and Danielle Prsa set the ball great!!  Christina Winger had big blocks at the net and Hannah McClounie came in as a serve specialist  throughout the entire game.
Our troup of injured players as always lent their voices in support so thanks to Sarah Tracey, Tina DiCarlo and Riley Pirouet for being fantastic cheer leaders.
Good Luck at SWOSSAA on Friday.
