MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS

WEDNESDAY, MAY 7

Last call for students wanting to participate in the 2014-2015 exchange with the International Student Exchange organization.  Enhance your foreign language skills in Italy or Spain. Develop a better appreciation of French in Switzerland or France.  Three month programs available. Applications must be received before May 23.


ATTENTION GRADUATES:
Is the death of one or both of your parents the reason you cannot afford to attend college or University next year? If you have serious intentions to attend College or University next year but due to financial problems may not be able to, then be sure to stop by the guidance office and pick up an application for the BBF Bursary.
Up to $2,500 dollars will be awarded to a student in need. Once again, applications for the $2,500 dollar BBF Bursary are available at guidance to a deserving student who has suffered the loss of one or both parents. Come to guidance for more details.

Attention all St Anne students who self-identify as First Nation, Metis or Inuit. Please see Ms. Cavallin if you are interested in participating in a writing contest. The James Bartleman Aboriginal Youth Creative Writing Award is an opportunity for you to win $2,500. This is open to any student who self-identifies as aboriginal.

There will NOT be a prom committee meeting tonight... tonights meeting has been cancelled.  Stay tuned to announcements to listen for our next scheduled meeting.

        

During Catholic Education Week, Learning Support will be acknowledging students who are serving in the love of Christ.

Each day we will acknowledge efforts of students based on a variety of sub-themes.

Calling all St. Vincent de Paul members...this is URGENT.
We need at least 4 students to help this Saturday morning , MAY 10th at  8:30 am at St. Alphonses Church to deliver groceries to the poor.  
Please see Mrs. Gyemi ASAP in room 171 if you can go.  Community service hours are given for this rewarding work.

Congrats to the Junior Girls soccer team who had an amazing tournament day yesterday.  The girls went undefeated in their 3 games played.  The girls beat St. Joe's with a score of 8-0.  Goal scorers were Isabella Scarapichia, Aleah Silvaggi, Emma Cullion, Carly Schulz, and Aleah Berenz and Anna Ulicny each with 2.  They then beat Holy Names with a score of 4-0.  Goal scorers were Elena Calderelli with the hat trick and Isabella Scarapicchia with 1.  In their last game of the day the girls defeated Villanova with a score of 5-0.  Goal scorers were Danieka Dupuis, Sarah Boyd with 2 and Anna Ulicny with 2.  Amazing play in net in all games maintaining shut outs for the day were Maddy West and Deana Gidillini.  Awesome work girls.  Way to play together as a team!!


Our Lady Saints opened their season last night  with a win against L'Essor!!  It wasn't easy, the win came in extra innings!   Awesome defence with Katie Greco pitching the full game.  Hannah McLounie warmed the bats up with a homerun over the fence in extra innings!! Way to go girls!!!  
Come cheer the girls on Wednesday and Thursday at our home diamond!


The boys baseball team extended their unbeaten streak with an exciting 4 - 3 come from behind victory over Sandwich.. In a well played game the boys refused to lose and squeaked out the win.  Tyson Way and Jack Zimmerman combined to strike out 9 batters while Way along with Jonah Fuerth and Kody Gagnon had two hits each.  Every player in the Saints lineup had a hit in the victory.  Next games are tomorrow in Toronto in a pair of exhibition games at Queensway Park as the boys head out for their first roady of the season.  If you are watching the Blue Jay game tonight, keep an eye out for the boys down the left field line.

Sr. Boy's Soccer
Yesterday your Saints travelled to Catholic Central to play the Comets.  In the 1st half your Saints had many opportunities to score, but came out of the half 1 goal down.  In the 2nd half your Saints were determined to find a way to win, and they did, coming out with a 2 – 1 victory.  Your goal scorers were Nacho Lasa and Giordano Silvaggi.  Game tonight at Villanova.
