The senior girls basketball team traveled to Hamilton this past weekend to play in the St. Thomas More tournament. The Saints began Friday night with a horrendous shooting night , shooting under 20% to lose to Holy Trinity of Oakville . After the disappointing opening night performance the Saints came back with some outstanding play Saturday. In the morning they played St. Mary's one of the top 3 teams in the province. The Saints led after the first quarter and the half by 23 - 17 . The third quarter was much the same til the final minute when the Crusaders saw their first lead 31- 29 . Unfortunately foul trouble and injuries and some timely outstide shooting by St.Mary's left our lady Saints on the short end of a 15 point loss to the eventual tourney champions. The girls regrouped in their final game despite being down to 8 players defeating Waterloo CI by a four point margin . Brielle Loebach averaged 10 pts and 4 rebounds a game to lead the Saints offence. Hannah Drkulec was a monster on the boards averageing over 10 per game . Nancy Ulicny played her best basketball of the season , Ryann Dowling shook off knee pain to knock down 3 key outside jumpshots in the Saints final game win and Sheila Haskings was consistent on both ends of the floor throughout the weekend. Great work ladies !!!! Practice tonight right after school in Carmelita Hall.
